Our Participation and Engagement research proposed the following principles for best practice: 

• Utilise safe spaces in which residents already engage in trusted practitioners 

• Facilitators will be trained and skilled in participation and co-production 

• All spaces, adults and practice will be guided by the values and principles for participation and co-production. 

• These spaces will be quality assured.
