Hatty Ruddick
In this Easter Sunday clash, 4th in the table Manchester City host 8th in the table Everton. Everton haven't had the best season, but have had some real stand out moments, and will be hoping for one today. City have had some positive news this week with progress in injury recoveries for Hemp, Knaak, Roord, Greenwood, Yamashita and Fujino. The sad news of Fowler's ACL in the week will be heavy in the hearts of fans. Head to head City have beat Everton 25 out of 28 games, however their last meeting was one of 3 losses. Everton will be looking to repeat today, preventing City from getting the Champion's League place for next season.
City Starting 11: Keating, Aleixandri, Coombs, Nicoli, Ouahabi, Park, Casparij, Hasegawa, Knaak, Prior, Murphy
Everton Starting 11: Ramsey, Fernandez, Hayashi, Wheeler, Vanhaevermaet, Payne, S. Holmgaard, Snoijs, Madsen, Stenevik, K. Holmgaard
City dominate possession and attacks in the first 10 minutes. They are called offside early on, and an attack in defended at 9 minutes, but the home side so far are looking the stronger team. Everton have done well to stop City however in their attempts so far. Strong attempt from Park at 11 minutes, saved by Ramsey. Kerolin is stopped in her tracks by Fernandez while Ramsey is out of goal. It would have been a fantastic goal, Fernandez showing fantastic play there. However, it isn't long until City get on the score sheet. A great goal from Casparij and assist from Murphy. The goal dedicated to teammate Mary Fowler.
Manchester City 1 - 0 Everton
The game pauses for Ramsey to get medical treatment, but she remains on. Murphy and Knaak defend well against K. Holmgaard as it goes into a corner for Everton, cleared by Coombs. Yellow card to Park for a foul on S. Holmgaard. Her twin sister Karen gets revenge and gets Everton on the scoresheet, with an assist from Sara.
Manchester City 1 -1 Everton
Casparij and Park are so close to making it 2-1, but both just go wide at 40 and 42 minutes. A foul which sees Vanhaevermaet on the ground at 43 minutes sees Knaak get a yellow card. City aren't helping themselves into the additional time as Hasegawa and Casparij have no passing options into the box, opening options for Everton. Equal at half-time.
No changes at half-time. The first real headline from this half is at 56 minutes where K. Holmgaard brings down Kerolin in the box. Fans are calling for a corner at the least, but the majority and the players are calling for a penalty. It is called as a goalkick. It was a penalty in hindsight. Everton are lucky here. Ramsey is stellar in a save against an attempt from Murphy at 56. Madsen is off for Lawley. Layzell is on for Knaak. Snoijs has an attempt that goes over the post just before being replaced with Sarri. Goal scorer K. Holmgaard is off for Hobson. Wienrother is on for Murphy. Layzell is close to getting the goal from a Hasegawa free kick, which goes over the goal. The goal almost comes again for Kerolin, which Ramsey does well to knock off course. Medics are on for a head injury for Aleixandri as she bangs heads with Layzell in an attempt at goal. She is okay to continue. Wheeler does well to block an attempt from Wienrother. Ramsey brings another great save against an attempt from Park. A last minute yellow card for Wheeler before a City free kick. Ramsey has a save in the last second from Kerolin.
Points are equal at the Joie.
