Batik Workshop

Ages High School to Adult
$75 per person

Saturday, October 11, Noon to 5:00

 
(Minimum participants is 4, and maximum is 8)

In this 5 hour workshop, you'll learn the basics of batik - a wax resist on fabric and create a project using the process of fabric dyeing and wax batik. After applying wax with traditional tjanting tools, stamps, and brushes to fabric, we will dye using fiber dyes. You'll be sent home with a batik (approximately 18 by 18 inches) and directions for removing the wax if we do not have time to remove the wax in the workshop. You will create a project that you can display. It is great fun for a day workshop, so come with a friend or come and make new acquaintances!

Alcohol Inks

Ages  11 and Up
$30 per person
(Minimum participants is 10 and maximum is 18.)

In this workshop, you can learn how to use the medium of alcohol inks. Surfaces to paint on include ceramic tiles, glass, and polypropylene (plastic) paper. Fabric style effects are lots of fun using a hair dryer, and fractiles always amaze! The workshop is between 2 to 3 hours, and participants will leave with 5 or more alcohol ink creations that can be made into framed work or even greeting cards.

Beginning Pottery Wheel Workshop

Ages 15 and Up
$85 per person, all materials are provided

 (Minimum 4/Maximum 6)

Experience throwing on the pottery wheel!  Create several forms, firing the best 2 pieces.  Glazes will be selected the day of the class, for glazing done by the instructor at a later date. Pick up after firing is completed. All materials provided. Pieces will be available for pick up within 2 to 3 weeks after the date of the class. Please recognize that pottery is an art, and clay can be a fickle beast; we cannot guarantee that your pieces will come out the way that you envision, or that they will survive all the stages of the making process.
