Reins of Change Pony Club

Reins of Change is an official Pony Club Linked Centre, giving children the opportunity to be part of The Pony Club without needing to own a pony.

Our Pony Club programme is completely non-ridden and combines practical, hands-on learning with Pony Club badges, achievements and opportunities to take part in competitions and other Pony Club activities.

Children develop their pony knowledge and practical skills while building confidence, responsibility and friendships along the way.

What Children Will Learn

Pony Club is all about learning practical skills and developing a real understanding of ponies.

Children will learn about:

🐴 Pony care and grooming
🐴 Tack and equipment
🐴 Stable management
🐴 Leading and handling
🐴 Pony behaviour and welfare
🐴 Groundwork and practical pony skills

Activities are hands-on, fun and adapted to suit different ages and levels of experience.

Pony Club Badges & Achievements

A big part of Pony Club is giving children goals to work towards and celebrating what they achieve along the way.

Children can work towards a wide range of Pony Club badges and achievement awards, building their knowledge and practical skills as they progress.

Badges cover lots of different topics, from pony care, grooming and feeding to tack, behaviour, first aid and stable management.

Competitions & Opportunities

Being part of Pony Club can open up opportunities for children to put their knowledge into practice and be part of something bigger.

Children may have the chance to take part in:

🏅 Horse & Pony Care competitions
🧠 Pony Club quizzes
🏆 Area and national competitions
🐴 Other Pony Club events and activities

Taking part is completely optional, but for children who want to have a go, it gives them something exciting to work towards and a chance to represent Reins of Change.

Who Pony Club Is For

Our Pony Club programme is ideal for children who love ponies and want to develop their knowledge and practical skills.

No riding experience is needed and children do not need to own or loan a pony. Everything we do at Reins of Change is completely non-ridden.

Pony Club is particularly suited to children who enjoy:

What a Typical Pony Club Session Looks Like

Every session is a little different, but children can expect a mixture of practical pony time, learning and fun activities.

A session might include:

🐴 Grooming and caring for the ponies
🐴 Leading, handling or groundwork
🧠 Learning about pony care, behaviour, tack or stable management
⭐ Working towards a Pony Club badge or achievement
🎲 Games, quizzes and practical challenges
💬 Time to ask questions and learn from each other

Our sessions are designed to be hands-on and enjoyable, with children learning by doing rather than simply sitting and being taught.

Interested in Joining?

Children can join Reins of Change sessions without being Pony Club members, so there’s no need to commit straight away.

For those who would like to become a Pony Club member, membership opens up the full range of Pony Club badges, achievements, competitions and opportunities available through our Linked Centre.
