The Regional Soils Laboratory of the Cordillera Administrative Region (RSL CAR) is one of the four laboratories under the Integrated Laboratories Division of DA-RFO CAR. As an ISO 9001:2015 certified laboratory, it provides essential services such as soil testing for fertilizer recommendations and water analysis for irrigation suitability to support farmers and other customers. These services help improve crop productivity and promote sustainable farming practices in the region.

RSL CAR also ensures the quality of fertilizers being procured and distributed by the Agency complies with the minimum tolerance limits set by the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority. This regulatory function safeguards farmers from substandard agricultural inputs that could negatively affect soil health and crop productivity. Moreover, the laboratory extends its support to the agency’s research, development, and extension (RD&E) programs, particularly in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification and various research and production initiatives. To enhance accessibility to quick soil analysis, RSL CAR provides qualitative soil testing using Soil Test Kits (STK) method. It also distributes STK and refills reagent solutions for municipal agriculture offices and farmer cooperatives and associations. These efforts strengthen local soil testing capacity.

Beyond testing, RSL CAR plays a key role in improving agricultural productivity in the Cordillera region by conducting soil fertility mapping and trace element assessments in rice-growing areas. These efforts provide farmers with essential data to support better soil and crop management, contributing to sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
