Application
In order to be eligible for the workshop, applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program (MA or PhD) at the time of application. Additionally, participants must have some experience in making audiovisual essays and must have basic familiarity with video-editing software. The workshop is an opportunity to further develop skills, methods, and community; it is not an introduction to audio/video editing. However, it is not necessary for applicants to have experience applying videographic methods to their main thesis/dissertation research. We welcome applicants who are willing to explore and experiment through their research at all levels.
Participants will have access to editing workstations housed in the university's Martin Media Center. These include editing bays, shared editing workstations, two audio sweetening suites, and an audio recording room. The computers associated with the work stations are installed with Adobe Premiere Pro. If participants would prefer to use their own laptops for workshop, they must have their own access to video editing software, and must be able to troubleshoot their own machine. Participants should also bring external storage devices, and make sure they have enough space to store their work without relying on Internet-based cloud storage.
We can provide a letter of invitation to participants who require one for travel visa applications. However, we cannot arrange a visa for you and we strongly advise participants to check entry and visa requirements to the US from their countries before making travel arrangements and at the time of application. Please contact the embassy/consulate in your home country.
Thanks to the securing of generous grant funding, there is no tuition fee for the workshop; see more details here.
