Red Wolves tend to keep the same mate for life. Being that it takes a male and female wolf to reproduce this mean the Red Wolf reproduces sexually.
Red Wolves breed once a year. The females gestation period is 60-63 days. When the female gives birth, 2-6 pups are the average number of pups born.
Red Wolves are raised by both parents. At around 6 months of age the Red Wolf is ready to go out on its own. For Red Wolves in captivity their lifespan can be as high as 15 years old, but the wild Red Wolf will live to be 6 to 7 years old.
