• Public universities tend to offer a wider variety of majors and programs of study - there is something for everyone!

• Due to their larger student populations, public universities tend to have more activities and clubs on a daily basis.

In North Carolina we have 36 private higher education institutions! 

• While the 'sticker price' on many private universities may be higher due to not receiving public funding, these schools often give out many grants and scholarships that make them just as affordable as public schools (and sometimes cheaper)!

• While private schools can sometimes offer a smaller variety of majors due to having less students, this also means that faculty-to-student ratios are typically smaller!

• Smaller campus sizes typically mean a smaller number of clubs and activities to participate in initially, but this also means that these clubs and activities have a more tight-knit and personal feel!
