Report New College Acceptances/Scholarships to Ms. Coffey!
We have over 50, yes, 50 different colleges and universities right here in North Carolina! They come in all shapes and sizes: 4-year, 2-year, public, private, large, small, and everything in between! Did you know that you had this many opportunities to pursue a higher education right in your own back yard?
In North Carolina we have 16 public higher education institutions that make up the UNC System!
The 'sticker price' on public universities tends to be lower due to the schools receiving public funding, making them an affordable option for many students!
In North Carolina we have 4 public universities that participate in the NC Promise program, which allows for NC residents to have tuition of only $500! (See below for more details)
Public universities tend to offer a wider variety of majors and programs of study - there is something for everyone!
Due to their larger student populations, public universities tend to have more activities and clubs on a daily basis.
In North Carolina we have 36 private higher education institutions!
While the 'sticker price' on many private universities may be higher due to not receiving public funding, these schools often give out many grants and scholarships that make them just as affordable as public schools (and sometimes cheaper)!
While private schools can sometimes offer a smaller variety of majors due to having less students, this also means that faculty-to-student ratios are typically smaller!
Smaller campus sizes typically mean a smaller number of clubs and activities to participate in initially, but this also means that these clubs and activities have a more tight-knit and personal feel!
Talk about a deal! There are four (4) public universities in North Carolina that participate in the NC Promise program. This program allows students who attend the university and qualify for in-state tuition (don't forget to complete your RDS!) to pay only $500 for tuition each year!
