Redemption Oilfield Services: Pioneering Sustainability in the Permian Basin
In the heart of the Permian Basin, a revolution in sustainability began in 2021 with Redemption Oilfield Services leading the charge. The company introduced an innovative service that transformed the fate of post-industrial plastics. Polyethylene pipes, once destined for landfills, found a new purpose. Redemption Oilfield Services emerged as a pivotal player, offering a sustainable solution for the abundance of scrap and obsolete poly pipe from plugged and abandoned wells.
In its inaugural year, Redemption recycled an impressive 2.7 million pounds of poly pipe. Fast forward three years, and the company’s growth is nothing short of remarkable. Today, Redemption processes nearly 300 tons of poly pipe each month. To date, the cumulative weight of recycled material stands at a staggering 22 million pound and counting.
Redemption Oilfield Services’ contribution to the community and the oil and gas industry is immeasurable. The company’s dedication to environmental stewardship has not only provided a practical solution to waste management but also set a precedent for corporate responsibility in the region.
As Redemption continues to expand its services, the ripple effect of its work promises a cleaner, more sustainable future for the Permian Basin and beyond. The company stands as a testament to the positive impact that innovative thinking and commitment to sustainability can have on our world.
Midland, Texas — August 7, 2025 — Redemption Oilfield Services proudly unveiled its newest addition to the Permian Basin: a state-of-the-art poly pipe shredding system designed to tackle one of the oil and gas industry’s biggest environmental challenges — decommissioned HDPE pipe.
At an inauguration event held on August 7, Redemption hosted representatives from major oil and gas operators, local leaders, and members of the media. Guests were given an exclusive look at the HDPE Pipe Shredder System, the centerpiece of the company’s expanded recycling facility. The inauguration included a live demonstration, where the machine transformed bulky, used poly pipe into clean, shredded feedstock in minutes.
For decades, retired poly pipe has posed a disposal problem for operators across West Texas. Much of it ended up buried, abandoned, or sent to landfills. Redemption’s new shredding system offers a cost-effective and environmentally responsible solution, ensuring these materials can be processed locally rather than hauled long distances or wasted.
The Shredder system is engineered specifically for heavy-duty applications like oilfield poly pipe. The machine can handle thick-walled HDPE pipe with efficiency and consistency. Once shredded, the plastic is turned into a uniform feedstock that manufacturers can reuse to produce new industrial and commercial plastic products — giving oilfield waste a second life in the supply chain.
Since 2021, Redemption Oilfield Services has recycled over 21 million pounds of poly pipe, keeping massive volumes of industrial plastic out of landfills. With the new shredding system, that impact will grow significantly.
“This equipment marks a turning point for both Redemption and the operators we serve,” said Aldo Venegas, CEO and co-founder of Redemption Oilfield Services. “We’re giving producers a practical way to dispose of poly pipe responsibly, while creating new raw material streams for manufacturers. It’s about efficiency, economics, and sustainability all in one.”
Redemption’s shredding facility is the first of its kind in Midland dedicated to the oil and gas industry. By offering on-site recycling, the company ensures operators save on logistics, landowners see cleaner sites, and the community benefits from reduced landfill pressure.
As the industry continues its focus on ESG initiatives, Redemption Oilfield Services positions itself as a trusted partner in helping producers meet their sustainability goals without sacrificing operational efficiency.
