The MLB has many great batters that are very fun to watch, but in this article I'll be ranking the best of the best!
Catcher: Yasmani Grandal - Chicago White Sox
First Baseman: Cody Bellinger - Los Angeles Dodgers
Second Baseman: Gleyber Torres - New York Yankees
Shortstop: Francisco Lindor - Cleveland Indians
Third Baseman: Anthony Rendon - Los Angeles Angels
Left Fielder: Juan Soto - Washington Nationals
Center Fielder: Mike Trout - Los Angeles Angels
Right Fielder: Christian Yelich - Milwaukee Brewers
Pitcher: Shohei Ohtani - Los Angeles Angels
Former Washington National and World Series Champion, Anthony Rendon, (Third Base) signs a 7-year 245 million dollar deal with the Los Angeles Angels.
Rendon has spent all of his seven years in the league with the Nationals, and is coming off a big season. Last season (2019), Rendon had 34 home runs, 126 RBI, and 117 runs scored. He was named an All-Star this past season and is a two-time Silver Slugger in his career. And his dominance doesn't stop there. He was a key piece for the Nationals last season and helped them win the World Series for the first time in franchise history!
So, as you can tell, Rendon is a major threat to any pitcher he faces. And on the Angels he will have much success as he joins another major power-hitter in Mike Trout. The two will be unstoppable together, so have fun pitching against the Angels!
Overall, the signing of Anthony Rendon will serve the Angels very well, and it will help them make the playoffs for the first time since 2014. The Angels will definitely have much success in many years to come!
Three-time World Series Champion, and former San Francisco Giants pitcher, Madison Bumgarner signs with the Diamondbacks for five years and 85 million dollars!
Bumgarner was drafted 10th overall in 2007 by the Giants, and in his eleven years with the team, he won 3 World Series Titles (2010, 2012, and 2014) and was awarded the 2014 NLCS and World Series MVP Trophy. He is also a four-time All-Star and a two-time Silver Slugger.
During his time with San Francisco, he had a 119-92 record with a 3.12 ERA.
This past season, Bumgarner had a mediocre 9-9 record with a 3.90 ERA, and the Giants finished 3rd in their division (NL West) with a 77-85 record. Arizona, however, finished with a 85-77 record, 8 games better than the Giants, and 2nd in their division (NL West).
The signing of Madison Bumgarner is a monumental move for the Diamondbacks and it will help the team become a serious playoff contender. Arizona was already a winning team without Bumgarner, so this signing will definitely help them go far into the playoffs. I can't wait to see Madison Bumgarner's success on the Diamondbacks!
With COVID-19 spreading across the USA, the MLB is looking to have regular season games in October. Do you think this could really happen?
Well first of all, the MLB teams and players want to play as many games as possible in the 2020 season. The MLB is accordingly willing to have the regular season in October, which would push the playoffs to November, and as a result, possibly December. While the Opening Day is still under discussion, there is a slight chance that the season could start sometime in the summer. And if it does happen, this would make the possibility of October regular season games really work out. When the season starts however, it is likely that the stadiums will be closed to the public, and all games will be held in "safer" locations so the teams aren't at a huge risk.
While the chances of the 2020 MLB season might be slim, there is still hope that the season will start, so let's look forward to MLB season, whenever and wherever it may be.
