UPDATE - important rules for open fires
The city of Limeshain has granted us permission to use fire bowls, even though the area is anything but safe in terms of fire risk due to the recent dryness. I (Aelric) hadn't expected this. However, this was only permitted in conjunction with certain conditions, to which I have also committed myself.
Therefore, I expect you to reliably comply with these conditions when operating fires.
1. Only fire bowls that are raised off the ground may be used. I would say: 15-20 cm minimum. The more, the better.
2. A distance of at least 10 meters must be maintained from trees and bushes.
3. The ground around the fire must be moistened within a 3-meter radius.
4. For each fire bowl, the following must be available for extinguishing: either 6 kg of fire-fighting foam or at least 2 x 10 liters of water (2 buckets).
5. The fire must never be left unattended. Before leaving the fire, it must either be completely extinguished or burned down to the point where there is absolutely no risk of sparks or overheating of the ground.
6. Access routes for the fire department must be kept clear, and a telephone should always be readily available to contact the fire department.
Please be aware that a fire spreading on the premises could have terrible consequences. Therefore, please take this matter very seriously!
NEW:
Please mark your tent ropes with LED-lights at night to avoid accidents!
Setting up your tent
Please do not pitch your tent until you have spoken with Aelric or Ali. Several spots are reserved for specific reasons (access to electricity, etc.). Please understand that modern tents are not permitted in the historical area.
Cooking
This is a self-catering event. A feast will be provided on Saturday evening (registration required). A large grill and some firewood will be available. However, please bring your own firewood if possible. Electric hot plates and gas stoves can also be brought and plugged in; we will provide a "cooking table" for this purpose. Shopping facilities are nearby, but a car is necessary. If you are arriving without a car and need shopping assistance, please contact the event crew.
Depending on the weather, open fires may be prohibited by the local council due to the risk of forest fires. In this case, we will have to cook on the electric hot plates/gas stoves and/or order from restaurants in the area. We shall inform you about on the situation closer to the event. Please see the update at the top of the page
We will have a cooling trailer for items which need to go into a fridge. But please be aware that we will be over 90 persons, thus space in the trailer is somewhat limited.
Showers and Toilets, Waste Disposal
Showers and toilets are available.
Please dispose of your waste in the designated bins near the entrances. And please help keep the common area under the large sunshade clean! Take your bottles with you in the evening, and please check that your children have left the craft station tidy. In recent years, there have been many problems with open glue cans and craft materials scattered on the ground.
Dogs on the site
Your four-pawed friends are allowed, but for safety reasons they must be kept on a leash.
Market on Saturday
On Saturday, you'll have the opportunity to sell your own products or items you no longer need. Tables will be available under the communal sunshade. There will also be a silent auction.
So bring some cash in case you find something you like at the market or the auction.
Music at the campfire
We want to make music and sing in the evenings. All instruments are welcome! Of course, you can also just join us and listen.
Requests, complaints, problems, help
If you need anything, if something isn't right, or anything like that: PLEASE tell us IMMEDIATELY. If we know in a timely manner, we will of course try to fulfill your request or solve the problem. If we only hear "It would have been nice if..." after the event, there's nothing we can do.
Before you leave on Sunday
Please help with dismantling the archery station and the general area (sunshade and tables/benches) if possible, and be sure to check the Lost and Found boxes before leaving to see if anything belongs to you!
