After experiencing riots, hurricanes, earthquakes and pandemics during my years of travelling on several continents, I kept thinking about the best ways to survive disasters and emergency situations. I started this ongoing learning process in 1999 during the Y2K scare, right through to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
Following a lot of online research, I've came to the conclusion that even the most honest websites are heavily biased towards us stockpiling gear and supplies, and not much else. This unhealthy focus on accumulating equipment and paraphernalia is often a genuine inclination of those internet gurus (Guys love their toys). More sinister, it is also a result of the same web influencers benefiting from free goods in exchange for product placements, or from commissions earned via affiliate links when their followers shop online.
My contribution, hopefully, is to rectify that imbalance by pointing out that we must take care of other important matters first, before considering buying any stuff — see the priorities listed on the Home page.
I also entertain the hope that what is discussed here might be useful to you not only for disaster preparedness, but also in dealing with whatever life throws at you.

Full disclosure: I am an old, white, educated male, extremely lucky to live in a peaceful and developed country at the moment. The fact that I have the time and the resources to create this website shows how privileged I am. Nonetheless, I believe that the analysis and lists of tips offered in those pages are valid for everyone. Even if I am fully aware that millions of people in the world right now would not be able to implement many of these strategies, even if they wanted to, due to their current circumstances.
