Q & A
What does the rugby tour include? The estimated cost per player is $1700, which includes hotel accommodations, breakfasts, training sessions, matches, and several group dinners. Details at this link . Players will book their own flights separately -- this is the tour company’s recommendation to help keep overall costs down.
If family/friends do not do the tour package (e.g., they stay in a separate hotel, etc.), can they still watch the matches? Yes, course, they can still come to the matches! Details will be available nearer the time.
What tour company are we using? Venatour USA, website: https://venatour.co.uk/usa/
Which airport in Japan do we fly into/out of? Venatour: Because the majority of our Dec. 13 booked flights arrive into Narita Airport around 5pm, that is where/when the guide and mini bus will meet and pick up those travelers. Others will need to use public transport to get to the hotel as that seems like the best compromise.
The official tour ends Dec. 19 in Osaka, hotel check out on Dec. 20, so you can fly out of Osaka or take a train to Tokyo to fly out from there.
Which hotels in Japan are booked for the tour group?
Tokyo: Dec 13 - Dec 17 (4 nights)
Hotel Mystays Premier Omori
6-19-3 Minami Oi, Shinagawa-ku
Tokyo 140-0013, Japan
Osaka: Dec 17 - Dec 20 (3 nights)
Richmond Hotel Namba Daikokucho
1-8-31 Shikitsuhigashi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka City
Osaka Prefecture 556-0012, Japan
Will there be chaperones? Once adult travelers are confirmed, we will have designated chaperones, breaking blocks of time/activities per chaperone.
Is the tour going to transport us from Tokyo airport to the hotel? Per Venatour, for those on the tour, transport will be private coach transfer from Narita airport only for travelers arriving Dec. 13, ~5pm, for bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka, and for public transport for sightseeing/matches. Once we have fixtures confirmed we'll be able to provide more info. An English-speaking guide will accompany the group each day to make sure they are able to navigate the public transport system ok.
Anyone arriving outside of Narita Airport on Dec. 13, ~5pm will need to arrange a cab or their own transportation on arrival.
What do we do for mobile phone coverage in Japan? Nowadays, most tourists into Japan use a company called ‘Japan Wireless’ and pre-book a pocket WiFi – you pick it up on arrival at the airport and then pop it in the post in a self-addressed pre-prepared envelope…cheap and very efficient. Your other option is to contact your existing provider to see whether they can add on roaming and if so, what are the charges.
Is the tour non-refundable? Yes, it is non-refundable. Per Venatour: "If we cannot find a substitute for your traveler(s), in the past, we were unable to get deposits back."
Is there a single occupancy option for hotels? If so, is there a difference in cost? Yes, the single occupancy supplement would be an additional USD $475 per person in order to have their own room for the tour.
