Ravens sweep Little Rock Lobos in straight sets.
Lady Ravens team dominated on the court on Thursday, defeating the Little Rock Lobos in three straight sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-14). A strong ace streak by both senior Chrislynn Terry and junior Sophia Dominguez**, and powerful kills by middle Nadia Lyles kept the momentum running even at the low points. In an interview with captain Cheyenne Roth, she expresses her pride in her team and looks forward to seeing them improve in progress throughout league. With the win, the Ravens extend their win record to 5-1.
JV
The JV Ravens fought hard against the Lobos but took home a loss. Set one ended at 25-16 loss while set two ended similarly at 25-15. Despite the loss the team showed a strong resilience in defense and steady improvement on the court.

The Ravens played a well fought game but the Foothill Trojan's offence was grinding the Raven's defense.
The end score of the game was 40-14 with both Raven's touchdowns courtesy of Senior Wide Receiver Branden Horns, who is one to watch this year after racking up 108 yards in Friday's game.
Sophomore Quarterback, Diego Ruiz, threw both touchdowns netting him 119.9 yards.
This week, the Ravens are preparing to face off against the 0-2 Riverside Prep Knights who lost to the Ravens last year 19-2 so this should be a good game.
Today the JV Ravens play against Riverside Prep. Right as kickoff started Riverside received the ball but the Ravens were able to cause a fumble. Riverside went for a field goal at the 20 but the Ravens blocked it. Josiah Good picked the ball and ran 35 yards before he got tackled. Riverside Prep was able to get a safety, making the 0-2. Daeion Wilson got a touchdown in the first half making the game 6-2 in favor of the Ravens. Mika Mattson caught a pick, turning the ball over in the second half and Riverside Prep forced a second safety making the game 6-4. Later in the game, Riverside Prep was able to get a second touchdown and make a field goal to take the lead and make the game 6-11. After a close and hard fought game, unfortunately the Ravens were defeated with the final score being 6-11.
The CCHS Ravens came up short this past Friday against the Riverside Prep Silver Knights with a final score of 28-7. The Ravens' touchdown came from Senior Branden Horns. With this loss, the Ravens are now 0-2 going into their next game, a battle with the Viewpoint Patriots in a non-league contest on Friday, September 12, which will also be the first home game of the season.
The Kern Valley JV volleyball game was a loss for the JV team. The game lacked communication, which made it difficult for us to make plays. The Ravens’defense during the game also caused a struggle due to not doing the right footwork and controlling the ball. However, even though they struggled during the game, including passing and serve receive as stated by the team, overall it wasn't bad and they should do better against Boron on Thursday. If the team focuses on passing and serve receive they will be able to do a lot better against other teams during the season because without those they won’t really have the ability to play competitively during games or have the chance to win any games.
9/9/25 KernV alley vs. California City (JV)
with four aces, helping the Ravens dominate from the service line and control the match from start to finish. In an interview with Captain Cheyenne Roth and Oppo Lana Israel they expressed their support for the team. Although they believe in the potential of the team Lana expressed in this game, “we showed how much better we can be under pressure.”
JV Ravens Battle in Three-Sets
The California City JV Ravens pushed the Boron Bobcats to the limit, splitting the first two sets (20–25, 25–23) before narrowly falling in the final set, 16–14. The Ravens showed grit and determination in a hard-fought match.
We had our first cross country 3 mile meet this past Tuesday. Our boys had a good start and finish with sophomore Harley Lupton coming 7th out of 57 male runners overall, with an overall time of 23:17. Following him was Ethan Saaverdra in 11th place, who was also the first freshman to finish the race. In 19th we had our Raven Joseman Garay with a time of 27:05:00 and holding strong and finishing next for the Ravens was William Escobar with a time of 27:29:50.
And we could never forget our sole female Raven runner, representing the class of 2026, Kimberly Baez coming in 13th out of 27 girls with a time of36:52.9.
Good job Ravens and keep up the good work!
The California City Ravens football team played a pretty good game Monday night against the Silver Valley Trojans winning 26-6 and improving their record to 1-3. The Trojans came out hot, scoring first in the first quarter but the Ravens' defense held tight for the rest of the game putting our Raven offences in a good spot to score.
Our senior running back, Kevin Hightower II, was running through the Trojans defense gaining 88 years with 13 carries. Kevin is averaging 19.5 yards per game gaining a rushing touchdown this game. Senior Xyale Smith also scored a 41 yard receiving pass from sophomore quarterback Diego Ruiz . Diego had two passing touchdowns ending the night with his second pass of the night to senior wide receiver Branden Horns from the 10 yard line. To finish the game, the Trojans fumbled the snap for junior Newton Avilez to scoop and score, running 45 yards for the final touchdown.
With a devastating loss to the Yosemite Badgers, the California City Ravens football record fell to 1-4. The Ravens were scheduled to play the Desert Scorpions this Friday, however, the game has been cancelled. The next regular season game will be homecoming on October 10 against the Rosamond Roadrunners. Come support the Ravens, get some good food, and see who wins HoCo 2025 Queen at halftime.
