Cupro
Braze

The CuproBraze project was developed in order to braze copper-brass automotive heat-transfer devices. Special anneal-resistant copper fin material, to special anneal-resistant brass headers, side-rails and fittings.

This included:

Consulting engineer PHE plate heat-exchanger thermal engineering analysis design shell and tube air cooled brazing furnace particle technology invention novel

CuproBraze radiator
Brass tanks

Fins and tube core - brazed

Brazed fin-tube joint
Copper fin - brass tube

CuproBraze was originally developed by two technology teams under an International Copper Association (ICA) initiative

I was  engaged by Outokumpu as an Executive Consulting Engineer, based on my successful commercialization of the Aluminium Composite Deposition (CD) process in South Africa,  in order to build an engineering team and guide the project from laboratory-scale to commercialization.

I brought both teams together under Outokumpu technical direction, with the ICA managing the worldwide marketing of the CuproBraze technology.

We built a solid technology that was extensively used internationally by a number of manufacturers. I traveled through around 32 countries supporting our local marketing teams, conducting over 150 technology seminars, in numerous languages.
