Dr. Rangana Banerjee Chaudhuri is currently working as a Scientist & Research Project Leader in the National Metrological Institute of Germany (PTB) in Experimental Quantum Metrology wing. Here, Rangana is responsible for setting up the Nanophotonics Division with an experimental test bed for characterizing different integrated nano photonic components required for optical clocks, quantum computers, quantum sensors and ion traps. She is responsible for managing EU project with 12 EU partners.

Dr. Rangana received the MSc. Degree in Electronic Science, M.Tech. Degree in Radio Physics and Electronics (with specialization in Photonics) and Ph.D. Degree from the University of Calcutta , India. During her Ph.D., Rangana was a visiting researcher in CSIR-Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata, India & Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, Kolkata, India.

From February 2010 to June 2010, she worked as a College Lecturer in Electronics with the Computer Science department under University of Calcutta, India. From July 2010 to July 2011 Rangana worked as a Supervisor at Centre for Applied Engineering & Research, India where her main responsibilities were to supervise projects related to Embedded systems. From January 2019 to December 2019, she worked with Institute of Industrial Automation and Embedded Systems, India where her main responsibilities were to provide trainings on PLC and HMI, organize and present talks and seminars in the automation field. Thereafter she worked in Lightmotif Automation Sensors and Systems Pvt. Ltd. (now Sasmos Het Technologies Ltd.), India as a Research Scientist from March, 2020 to April 2021. Her main responsibilities there was to design Photonic based Microwave and Millimeter wave transmitters and receivers.

She joined Radio and Optical Communications Laboratory, School of Electronic Engineering, Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland as a Marie Curie co-fund Sparkle Research Fellow in October 2021 and worked till September 2023. Here she was responsible for developing broad bandwidth optical frequency comb sources and utilizing them to design photonic transceiver. Later she got promoted to a Research Fellow in the same laboratory and worked there till December 2023 where her main focus was to design free space optics-based transceiver for THz application.

Dr. Rangana's research interests include Optical Frequency Combs, Radio over Fiber, Free Space Optics, Microwave Photonics, Optical Communication, Photonic Upconverter, Photonic Transceiver & Nanophotonics. She has authored several peer reviewed international journal and conference publications and has also been invited to share her vision through invited talks at conferences and various other technical events. Rangana is a member of IEEE and as well as an early-career member of Optica and SPIE. She is also an AMIE (Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers), India, since April 2016.

In her free time, Rangana enjoys traveling, music, gardening, and photography, to name a few!
