with Edit Linked & Edit Axis at Root enabled, shift click twice on the desired pivot prim to deselect & select - now you can rotate using that prim as the pivot, even though you are editing a link set. when mousing over textures in the Texture Tab, a magnifying glass will appear.clicking that will select every face that uses that exact texture. can be done with all material / texture slots.toggle Select Face for precision if needed. using separate link sets with roots prims acting as the joints, select them from the tip to the end.rotate, and deselect in reverse order, rotate and repeat. mouse over any parameter/value in the Build Menu and scroll wheel up/down .
