SEMI FORMAL 2017
OCTOBER
October is when the emphasis was on creating a plan and exploring our options. The semi formal committee had just started and so has the look for a venue. To add on, a teacher had to be found to be our supervisor. A good budget plan had to be created to then make the project realizable. To add on, many ideas where brought up to make money. That month, the first sale was held at school.
NOVEMBER
Many opportunity arrived for more sales at school such open house day and parent teacher. More venues where visited and searched. The planning for a candy cane sale started in November. More plannings where done for future events. Permission had to be given to be able to sell the candy canes. The budget had to be edited and divided based on the current needs of the month.
DECEMBER
The candy cane sales where held in December. A few last venues where visited and a final decision was taken on which to choose. We decided to go with the Hot house restaurant. A final budget was made to accommodate the deposit and the venue.
JANUARY
The deposit was made in January. Our main focus for that month was to find a good way to find to raise even more money. We decided to make a field trip for the seven and eighth graders to go to the movie theater. We visited the local theater to check the prices of theater renting. A plan was then made to execute the field trip. The trip took place during the exam week. More then 1000$ was raised on this one activity.
FEBRUARY
A valentine day's sale was held during the month of February. This sale included patties, samosas, sweets, candy and chocolates and a raffle. Immediately after the sale, the planning for the ticket sales started. A final budget was made to divide the money between the cost of the venue, DJ and decorations.
MARCH
Ticket sales where done in march . An estimation on how many people where coming was done. We also focused on getting peoples information such as emergency contact numbers and music preferences. This month emphasized on raising peoples spirits and promoting the event.
APRIL
This month focused on the final executions and little details. This included making tickets, music lists, seating plans and buying decorations. The last payments where done and the event took place on the 13th April.
CAS OBJECTIVES
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses and this experience really pushed me to recognize them and act upon it.
I have never planned such a big event so many challenges had to be dealt with.
Many creative activities where created to raise money and awareness for the event.
This activity took place over many months and required constant attention.
To plan the event, team work was crucial. There has obviously been many arguments but all that had to be put aside for the sake of the event. When everyone worked together (including teacher) things went really smoothly.
The activities had to be evaluated based on the school ethics to keep everything appropriate. This also includes the location of the the venue and the process of the event.
