The creation of a because I am Girl club at my school. The club had focused on educating students from middle school and highschool about sexisme and storyiotypes given to both sexes. A mural was created with post its where students wrote their opinions on the topic. On international girls day, a dance activity and spetial lunch was animated to promote the club and important day. Many fundraseres where also created to raise money to the campaign.
This experiance thought me how to view many heavy world issues in different perspectives. It also thought me how to deal with those very issues and how I can express my own personal opinions without hurting anyone else. To continue, the club tought me how hard organization can become when dealing with a lot of people. It was really hard to start up the actual club and keep the participants interested, specially when school and extracular activities became a factor of distraction and disinterest.
During Halloween, I helped create the haunted house in the Northern District public library with 3 other friends for the community kids between 4-14 years old. The process took around a week to execute. We created a creepy medical scene and a criminal scene.
The activity thought me how to work efficiently with a small amount of people to accomplish something big and of good quality. I also had to explore and understand the interests of the different age groups to then be able to provide entertainment.
For the two months of summer of 2017, I volunteered at a day camp. Unlike other camps, this one focused on making sure all the kids are getting the attention that they don't have the opportunity to have during school. I was a camp counselor for kids age 7-8. This gave me the role of making sure the kids are always having but are also safe. Many activities where created on an everyday bases to ensure this. This includes craft activities, sciences experiments and fun outdoor games.
This experience has given me the opportunity to work with people from all different age groups and backgrounds. It has taught me how to cooperate with supervisors, kids, and parents. The experience has also really pushed me to learn how to put myself and my needs aside for the sake of others. Many ethical questions where raised in terms of what we can and can't do because many of the kids where Jewish, but I learned how to deal with these kids of questions.
