PITCH
A short, psychological thriller with multiple endings that had a concise, visually striking atmosphere and a coherent story that left the player wanting more. The entire project would be developed by me, with outside help only for playtesting.
What Did I Do?
I was responsible for every facet of this game's development: From the visuals, to the music, to the sound effects, to the code, I built this game from scratch using Twine as a prototyping tool and Renpy as the engine, and used friends, family, and strangers to help playtest and mold the experience to be as enjoyable as possible for fans of horror and the SCP universe.
What Did I Learn?
I learned how to be as self-sufficient as possible during the course of development. Having to develop everything myself, I learned when and how to cut corners and leave out content that was not necessary, how to save time during development, how to stick to strict deadlines and avoid perfectionism, and most importantly, how to handle feedback and present my game without taking criticism to heart.
These were all extremely valuable lessons, and I learned a lot about each discipline while I worked, from musical techniques, to coding etiquette, to how to better stick to a consistent visual style. The entire project was a challenging undertaking, but was also the most fun I've had developing a game. I plan to make technological, visual, writing, and audio advancements in my next projects.
