Custom Pacecar

You can set a custom pacecar for use in single player or multiplayer but you will need to complete a few steps to make it work.

You can use any car you have installed but this one has working lights on the roof which could be important.

What you will need:

Firstly.... install the safety car. Once it is installed you can navigate to vehicle files are kept.

In this case it is the "rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles\SafetyCar_PoTaycan\0.9" folder. We are looking for which mas file contains the *.veh files of this car.

Opening the "PorschTayc_Teams.mas" we find a file called "Po_Tayc_SC.veh". Note this down as we will need this for the next step.

Now we need to create a custom *.rfm file to use when creating our *.rfmod (series).

The easiest way to find these is to open your MAS2 tool, press the little box icon (to the left of the scissors) and press "Create New Mod Package" and check the box "customise"

This will give you access to add some custom files. If we press the "B" icon next to the default.rfm box a file picker will popup.

There are some standard templates displayed but these will disappear once the MAS2 is closed.

I suggest you copy all these and paste them elsewhere to use as templates for custom adjustments.

To make things easier for you, I have already used the "default.rfm" example and given you all the text within it here. Copy and paste this into notepad or download and save with an appropriate name and *.rfm extension.

For this example all I have changed is line 6 which contains the veh file you noted down earlier.

Scroll up if you forgot ;)

Now we can create our "rfmod" (series).

Using the MAS2 tool and press the little box icon (to the left of the scissors) and press "Create New Mod Package" and check the box "customise"

Choose your custom rfm file you made earlier and click "next".

Now we want to select the cars you will be using.

Hold control and click each car you want to use, making sure you include the safety car.

In this case it will be "SafetyCar_PoTaycan 0.9"

Click Next, select your track(s).

Click Next, select other optional components if needed (in most cases they aren't).

When we come to the main "Create Mod Package" menu I deselected the Porsche Taycan SC for this example, I think a drivable version of the pace car is included with this mod.

We only want the "AI SC Driver".

Check the rest of the details for your package, including the track layouts you want, mod name, file name and version number if required.

DO NOT check the checkboxes in locations or vehicles.

Now press "Package" and you should receive confirmation at the bottom that there we no errors.

You can press "install" here or use Mod Manager to install manually.

Load your game, choose single player (as a test).

Click "Select series", then choose the series we created earlier.

Adjust the rest of your settings then press "START RACING".

Oh look.... there is a different safety car sitting in pitlane! :)

Did this work OK for you? If you have any problems, let me know.
