Annotated Bibliography

Linked below is my annotated bibliography, completed during the first semester of my project on the following books: My Three Best Friends and Me, Zulay by Cari Best, Just Because by Rebecca Elliott, Be Good to Eddie Lee by Virginia Fleming, and Girls Like Us by Gail Giles. The first three titles are picture books, and the second is a young adult novel. I chose to include a young adult novel in this part of the project because I have a Reading concentration, which comes with a k-12 Reading license, so even though Elementary is my preferred level, it is important for me to expose myself to texts on middle and high school levels because I very well may find in myself a passion for teaching literacy in secondary schools.

I completed this annotated bibliography using Bersani and Myers's (2008/2009) methods for analyzing children's literature for ableism. In addition to helping me learn about a greater volume of texts than the four used in my content analysis, this annotated bibliography served as a practice analysis before completing the culminating study during the second semester of my project.
