About Me
About Me
“Life is crashing, burning, and speed friending.” Video artist Rachel Gordon had a hard time getting to know new people after moving from Jamaica to America. Communicating with others through humor soon began to drive her artwork. Gordon’s interview series Ring Radio Hour discusses emotional struggles in a lighthearted manner. In 2023, Gordon received her BFA in Animation as part of her pursuit to entertain. Gordon’s artwork has been exhibited at the show “Reboot” at Rosemary Duffy Larson Gallery, Davie and “Spectrum” at West 1, Miami. Her work was also part of “Thoughts at 3 am” at the Viert Haus Gallery in Miami. Gordon lives and works in Florida.
In this article by Carolina Drake, I was interviewed about my art work The Suspects, a video of students being interrogated for researching issues like race and sexuality in the FIU Glenn Hubert Library. This artwork was part of the school's Special Collection's exhibition. The art was in response to DeSantis policies toward Florida education.
“Thoughts at 3 AM” is the art show for FIU's graduating Thesis II students. As the best art ideas can come at odd hours, 18 emerging BFA turn late-night musings into artwork. This exhibit curated by students displayed Gordon's piece Ring Radio Hour: Shared Experiences. The student's artist statements can be found on the exhibit website.
