The Design Document is our first step together in the instructional design process and occurs prior to development. The purpose is to outline the business problem and decipher a solution. Based on the gap analysis of where you are vs. where you want your business to be, training recommendations are made. Organizing this information prior to development ensures that the content and learning objectives are aligned and relevant to the business goal.
Course Description:
This document is the design of an e-learning course for clinical leads and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) at Elevation Behavioral Health. The clinic is struggling to retain new employees after they make it through a rigorous onboard training due to overwhelm and lack of support in the field, which is costly to the clinic. The course presents a mentorship program in which BCBAs take small cohorts of new therapists and systematically support them through their first year as a practicing clinician to increase employee retention and, therefore, reduce company spending on training events.

Course Description:
This document is the design of an e-learning course for shift leads at Lonely Mountain Bookstore & Bakery. The new business is struggling with low foot traffic in their store, resulting in low sales. The course presents the framework for hosting community events, in this case a silent book club, to increase customer foot traffic through community engagement in the neighborhood and on social media. The goal is that through the hosting of community events in the bookstore, it will become a regular activity in peoples’ lives, increasing sales.

Storyboards
The Storyboard is the blueprint of the final design. An architect wouldn't start building a housing development without a detailed plan, and neither does a skilled ID. Here, we decide aesthetics, color palettes, and all voice over scripting is written. The purpose of this document is to save time and money during the development and revision processes by ensuring the client is happy with all course content and delivery methods prior to building the course.
