There are three kinds of updates: Route Cautions, Route Clarifications and Route Changes
Route cautions represent issues on the route that we want to bring to your attention. For example, if there is a large construction area, rough road, or perhaps a small detour.
Route Clarifications happen when the language in the Route Books needs to be clarified or slightly adjusted but it doesn't substantially change the route at all.
Route changes mean that the route has changed, requiring you to replace parts of the course in your route book with the route change. Once a change is in place, it usually stays in place and becomes the new official route but not always. We will be posting notices of route changes here. We will post a notification on Discord as well. Be sure you have crew members check this site often and that they are signed up for Discord and have notifications set for that site.
In all cases, it is your responsibility to check for changes and to stay on the official route. You should check this page often, and at every time station, Changes will be posted below.
Please note: RAAM and RAW take place on public roads. Things happen. Construction and trains will slow you down. The weather may hold you up. We do not give time credits for these things. They are a part of the race, and anyone can run into them at any moment.
From KS Deptartment of Transportation STANTON AND GRANT COUNTIES:
Resurfacing project to begin in Stanton and Grant counties:
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic on U.S. 160 in Stanton and Grant counties will be reduced to one lane starting Tuesday, May 16, from the K-27 / U.S. 160 junction east to the west city limits of Ulysses. This highway preservation project consists of a chip seal and micro surfacing. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and directed by flaggers and a pilot car through the work zone. Delays up to 15 minutes should be anticipated.
Work will take place throughout daylight hours. U.S. 160 will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.
This is a route change due to a road closure on the route
This is the first route change just out of TS 38 - The railroad crossing is completely blocked by slabs of asphalt.
This is your second route change just before TS 39 - a route change due to a missing bridge on the route
There is a slight detour due to a possible missing bridge
