Mugs! These are probably one of the more well-known pieces of functional ceramic artwork. I'm sure most of you have many of these filling up your cabinets and counter space. I love making these. The mugs that I make vary in shape and style, some are simpler and more "traditional," but others are fun and exciting!

All of these items are thrown on the wheel to form the vessel, then the handles are added at a later time so that the vessel can be held without worrying about ruining the integrity of the vessel's shape. Making handles is the part I enjoy the most because they really bring the mugs to life by adding the flavor to an otherwise "boring" cup.

I take special care to ensure that these items are safe to use for consumption as well as to put in the dishwasher.
