Growing up, Quinn Swartz knew she wanted to work in the art field. Having been encouraged by those around her, she constantly created art anywhere she could. Her walls were filled with her art as she wanted to be surrounded by it and continue being motivated by it. No sketchbook was safe from her as she always had them filled within a month or two of receiving them.
Of course there are times when Quinn isn't creating. She is a university student and works within her school to be able to build up her savings for once she has graduated. She works as a Resident Advisor and Desk Clerk within the dorm hall she lives. Quinn chose this as a job because with the Resident Advisor role, Quinn has access to free housing and meal plan. This allows her to continue building her savings as she does not have rent to worry about or having to go grocery shopping as often.
Quinn is the oldest of eight children in her household, so when she visits home she enjoys helping her mom with daily activities and caring for her siblings to take the stress off of her shoulders. Quinn has also inspired her siblings to create art and helps them road blocks that they run into and ask for help on.
When Quinn was in her mid teens she had made the choice to leave her biological mother and move in with her aunt who had adopted her in 2021. Because of this, Quinn does have an older step sister and four younger siblings on her biological families side. She plans to move to Georgia with her step sister to have less cost on rent.
Art has always been in Quinn's life, she faced many hardships growing up and art was the way she was able to escape those hardships. Her art was the easiest way to explain what she felt without having to use words.
In 2018 Quinn decided she wanted to make an official artist name in order to start building a name for herself as an artist. It was a hard task, because she didn't want to accidentally take someone else's art handle, or somehow make it something that could be offensive in another language or area. After many different attempts, Quinn decided on PhantasmalArt. She was obsessed with Danny Phantom growing up and at first wanted just Phantasmal as her handle, but she didnt feel it stuck enough without adding 'Art' at the end.
Quinn only had access to traditional pen and paper work up until 2020, right before COVID hit. She had made many different works on her new tablet in order to prepare for her many art ideas she had been planning for a long time. Now her art is a combination of traditional art, digital paintings, animations, and animatics, most of which have been created in her academic space.
Quinn is currently an animation student going into her fourth year at Bowling Green State University. She hopes to graduate in May of 2025 and move out of state in order to further her career in the animation field closer to Florida.
Quinn has already been making plans for her future. She has a running list of her future goals along with the time frame that she plans to have those goals completed. Having a written out plan is very important for Quinn as it gives her the chance to visualize what she wants to do as well as have a timeline to adhere to as close as she can. Once Quinn graduates she plans to move to Georgia in order to be close to the Florida animation industry. She is already looking at apartments and plans to move in May or June of 2025, right after her graduation. Quinn is also looking for jobs in southern Georgia, northern Florida that will help her progress through the animation field.
Quinn's biggest goal for her future is to have a big enough role in an animated show or movie that her name is one of the main ones shown. She would be grateful to be recognized in any way she can, but it would make her feel more accomplished to have a bigger role.
