1. When the client is logged in as somebody other than the administrator, then switching user and logging In to Administrator is required. Once this is completed try downloading the update again and if it happens, then the issue is sorted.
2. If the above doesn’t work, then it is likely that Spy sweeper is the problem point. To get rid of it, one needs to identify its presence. This can be done by opening Windows Task Manager through pressing (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) keys together. Press the processes tab and look for Spy Sweeper.exe, then either of the below mentioned can be done
a) eliminate or uninstall Spy sweeper by opening ‘Add/Remove programs’ in the Windows if located in the processes tab. This would take care of the problem.
b) If the location of Spy Sweeper is not finding out in the computer system then open C drive and input location – C:\ program files\ Common Files \ Intuit \ QuickBooksxx \ Components. Reset QuickBooks update, once renaming downloadqb <nn> folder as downloadqb <nn>. Old. Is done.

3. If both the above-stated solution fails to solve Error 15106, then turn off User Account Control momentarily if operating on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Vista.
4. If the problem still continues then perform a clean-up command on QuickBooks by going to choosy Startup and selecting clean install of QuickBooks.
