A Linesmen job is to call off-sides, icings, conduct face-offs, and be aware of any potential situations that might arise on the ice.
You should work from their blue line to about half way between the centre red line and your partner’s blue line.
Enter the attacking zone to call off-sides.
Be aware of what’s going on and where your partner Linesman is at all times.
Be ready to cover your partner’s lines.
Be prepared to cover if the Referee falls or get trapped.
If this is required, you may have to go into the end zone and assume the end zone positioning until the Referee gets back into position.
Always be sure there are no altercations going on at a stoppage of play before retrieving the puck.
As the back Linesman, remember to watch the players that could be lagging behind the play
Officials need to keep moving. If you’re standing still, when the play moves up the ice, you’ll be playing catch up. Try to anticipate the direction of play and get moving in the proper direction.
