Module 1

Module 2

Module 3

Module 4

Module 5

UTEP FYCH states the philosophy behind RWS 1302 as follows:

Building upon the study of rhetoric and writing begun in RWS 1301, Rhetoric and Composition 2 (RWS 1302) aims to develop further students’ rhetorical and critical thinking skills in order to facilitate effective written communication in educational, professional, and social contexts. Effective communication is based on awareness of and appreciation for diverse language practices as well as knowledge specific to subject matter, genre, rhetorical strategy, racial and social justice, and writing processes. (274)

Again, like RWS 1301, this course also aims to enhance rhetorical and critical awareness in the process of composition along with competence in subject matter, genre, rhetorical strategy, racial and social justice, and the process of writing or composition. Unlike RWS 1301, this course is more oriented to familiarize students with the research process: “In RWS 1302, you will conduct and study research as locally and socially situated practices” (p. 275). In the context of this course, locally and socially situated practices’ mean social and material realities, the realities that we explored in RWS 1301, Module 3. In the course, you can explore a topic or social issue in depth, familiarizing yourself with a research process.
