The Polytechnic University of the Philippines, as one of the recognized higher education institutions in the country, holds one of the most essential roles in shaping the future of our society in the 21st century. It continues to establish its mission to provide inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities through a re-engineered polytechnic university by committing to:
1. provide democratized access to educational opportunities for the holistic development of individuals with a global perspective;
2. offer industry-oriented curricula that produce highly skilled professionals with managerial and technical capabilities and a strong sense of public service for nation-building;
3. embed a culture of research and innovation;
4. continuously develop faculty and employees with the highest level of professionalism;
5. engage public and private institutions and other stakeholders for the attainment of social development goals and
6. establish a strong presence and impact in the international academic community.
The University offers applied research, advanced studies, and progressive leadership in the stated fields. We also provide ladder-type higher vocational, distance learning (open university system), technical, and professional programs in business and distributive arts, education, and the social sciences related to commerce, business administration, and other polytechnic areas. Furthermore, the University enriches its academic programs to provide its graduates with employable skills and managerial know-how to make them creative, productive, and self-reliant.
The Polytechnic University of the Philippines takes pride in its capacity to offer quality and accessible education with more than twenty campuses within the country. It delivers a comprehensive span of distance learning, undergraduate and graduate programs made available through traditional, open, flexible, and distance learning. It pioneered the ladderized system and the accreditation and equivalency system through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) and the Non-Traditional System Program (NSTP). It maintains an average class size of 45–50 students who enjoy full scholarships through Republic Act 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act 2017. The weekend and weekday schedules can accommodate full-time, part-time, and adult learners. The University makes its social responsibility felt with its various extension programs through the Colleges.
