The PUP and its immediate communities realized that their collective advancement depends upon the character of their relationships with one another. Since the concerns of one also affects the other, the University transformed its role from being a social critic to a problem-solver of complex social issues and problems. It provides channels where multiple stakeholders can participate in bringing about meaningful change.
The PUP, being a state university, believes that education is an instrument for the development of citizenry and for the enhancement of nation-building. The Department of Tourism and Transportation Management contributes in translating this philosophy of the University into concrete action through its integrated extension and community involvement program. As a partner in nation-building, extension programs are instituted with the primary goal of contributing to the empowerment of the community.
