Known for its predominantly green color with red fore crown, white ring-eyes and blue two-tone primaries that can only be notice while it is flying. The Puerto Rican Parrot or Iguaca (Amazona Vittata) is an endemic species that can only be found in the archipelago of Puerto Rico, the first time this bird was threatened was in 1988 and starting from 1994 it has been in critically endangered and is also listed in the IUCN Red List. At the moment there are two locations in Puerto Rico where the Amazona Vittata since 2019 with 300 held at El Yunque and 212 in Río Abajo held in the aviaries. Due to hurricanes Irma and Maria that impacted in a massive way the island, the Puerto Rican parrot disappear around a 60% leaving only 13 left. The measuring of the bird is from 28 to 30 cm, it is a unique bird that make a sound different from any other parrots because the one they do is a very loud one with their own tone.
Because of the law, Puerto Rican Amazon or parrot have encrypted a round radar on their neck and leg, so it can be monitored and found in case the bird gets captured, killed or stolen, this make scientist finds the location of the animal and go to find it in person.
