Puerto Rican Amazon or Puerto Rican Parrot (Amazona Vittata) like any other parrot is also diurnal, and it is very active during the day. The evolution of this parrot was making a bit of improvement, but as Hurricane María hit the island only 13 parrots were left and from 2019 there have being a huge improvement and now island have more parrots, but it is still in critically endangered and the bird will continue to be confined to a better reproduction and others that are 3 to 4 years old will be reintroduced to the wild, so they can mate and the number of parrot will increase in the wild.
Population trend is increasing but it still in “critically endangered” and in order for this to continue been a successful recovery, scientist need to keep reintroducing individuals to the wild. Last assessed was in August 2020, but in the news there were several updates about this species, that tells how this plan is working, and it also tells that there is a bigger amount of parrots, but not enough to be like it used to be before.

Severe climate and weather changes can impact this species because they are a forest bird and that is where it can be found easily, because their habitats can get destroyed and make the bird visible to predators, Because of this weather changes, their habitat was destroyed, and only 13 parrots were left, where DNRE decided to take action and rescue them to start a recovery plan, this species can not disappear from the Puerto Rico, specially when it takes part of the historic moments.
Also, many people used to catch this birds which is another reason why this bird is critically endangered, and now it is protected by the law, it is a wild animal, and it's not considered a domesticated species that can be displayed as a “pet”.
In addition to that, there was another 20% to 30 % of disappearance of parrots when these two hurricanes impacted the island, also it was said that in total was 10 parrots but at the moment it was going to be rescued a predator caught it, leaving a total of nine. Now the only thing to do is wish good luck to the nature and the parrots that are released in a certain time, to do their job and these bird reproduce without having any danger near them. The parrot can not be extinct because it is an endemic species that is very especial not only for the country but for the people who love animals and don't want this species to disappear.
