Black Canyon of the Gunnison

National Park

I visited this park many years ago with my Dad, when it was still a monument, and it looked a lot like this Instagram photo while we were there. Somehow, the mists made the canyon even more spectacular.

It was not on our itinerary. We were heading west towards Moab and Arches National Park after visiting Pikes Peak, saw a road sign, and headed in. Neither of us knew what to expect, but I was already a parks junkie and wanted to check the monument off my list. It turned out to be one of the more spectacular sights we saw on a very amazing trip.

Unfortunately, none of my prints or negatives from those days have survived.
