In February 2023, Dr. Kelly Goldberg (College of Arts & Sciences), Carla Klehm and Malcolm Williamson from the University of Arkansas' Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies, gave a two-day photogrammetry workshop through a McCausland Innovation Grant.
Public Volunteer Lab Nights Fall 2023
During fall semester 2023, Dr. Kelly Goldberg hosted volunteer public lab nights at USC in which volunteers learned how to wash archaeological artifacts from various sites across South Carolina.
HBCU Spring Break Excavations at Rose Hill Plantation 2023
Students from HBCUs around South Carolina spent their Spring Break excavating Rose Hill Plantation. Their goal was to uncover artifacts from the African American workers who lived and worked there to better understand their lives while on the plantation.
Archaeology Field School Summer 2023
For six weeks in summer 2023, USC students participated in an archaeological field school at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia, SC under Dr. Kelly Goldberg.
This past spring break, students from HBCUs around South Carolina joined Dr. Kelly Goldberg at Redcliffe Plantation to excavate and learn more about its past.
This past spring semester, Dr. Kelly Goldberg taught a Honors archaeology course ("Digging Through the Past: Exploring the Archaeological Resources at USC") in which students conducted excavations on the Horseshoe to explore the university's past.
For six weeks this past summer, eight undergraduate students participated in an archaeological field school. The students spent the first two weeks at Sesquicentennial State Part, then a week at Redcliffe Plantation, and finally three weeks on USC's Horseshoe.
Fall Field Day
On October 26th 2024, the Public Heritage Lab hosted a table at the Archaeological Society for South Carolina's Fall Field Day at the Cayce Historical Museum
