Meet Our Team Members
Dr. Kelly Goldberg
Founder & Director
Dr. Goldberg is a historical archaeologist specializing in the African Diaspora. Her research focuses primarily on transnationalism, identity politics, and political influence on the manifestations of memory and heritage of the transatlantic slave trade. She is also an instructor for USC's Honors College.
Eleanor Davis
Public Outreach Coordinator
Eleanor is an Anthropology major with a focus on archaeology and a double minor in Classical studies and History at USC. She plans to pursue Celtic archaeology in her post-grad studies.
Jemyah Jones
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Jemyah is an undergraduate student at USC majoring in Hospitality Management and minoring in Advertising and Public Relations. She is working on engaging with K-12 educators to integrate 3D artifacts into lesson plans, utilizing photography skills and digital platforms at the Lab. Jemyah is also training in 3D scanning and digital technologies to create archaeological replicas.
Jacob Young
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Jacob Young is an undergraduate student at USC majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Environmental Studies. At the lab, Jacob photographs artifacts from various projects and is learning about photogrammetry. He is interested in Native American history and hopes to pursue a career in archaeology.
Abby Rivers
Former Visual Artist
Abby textures, paints, and finishes 3D printed models of archaeological artifacts for educational use at the Public Heritage Lab. Abby is a double major in Art History and Studio Art with a minor in Business and is set to graduate this coming spring.
Stephanie Roznowski
Former Undergraduate Research Assistant
Stephanie is an undergraduate student at USC working on photogrammetry and 3D scans of artifacts for the Public Heritage Lab. She is a double major in Art History and Anthropology, as well as a double minor in Art Studio and Spanish. She is interested in field, lab, and museum work after college.
Juan Alvarado
Former Undergraduate Student Researcher
Juan was an undergraduate research assistant at the Public Heritage Lab during the Fall 2023 semester. While at the lab, Juan worked with 3-D scanning technology and photogrammetry software to develop digital models of South Carolinian artifacts primarily from the 18th century. Juan is an Elementary Education major in the Honors College at USC and he plans to become a school principal in the future.
David Hansen
Former Graduate Student Researcher
David is a PhD student in Biological Anthropology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. His research focuses on mortality patterning from the Black Death in medieval Eurasia. He is a founding member of the Public Heritage Lab, working with all things tech – photography, photogrammetry, and 3D scanning. He is currently consulting with the lab for training and on projects for South Carolina State Parks
