Our Mission

The Public Heritage Lab advances the study, preservation, and public interpretation of South Carolina's cultural heritage through archaeological research, public excavations, education, and digital technologies. By partnering with students, educators, community organizations, and heritage institutions, we create opportunities for hands-on learning, expand access to archaeological resources, and foster meaningful connections between people and the past. Through innovative research, collaborative projects, and public engagement, the lab works to make archaeology and cultural heritage more accessible, inclusive, and relevant to communities across South Carolina.
