The new-instructor orientation takes place in fall and spring just before the start of the term. Currently the orientation is via ZOOM. Our speakers are administrators, management, and our peers. Orientation lasts around 3-4 hours and your time will be paid. Let us know if you want to join an orientation even if you taught at LBCC before.
In-Class Session contains information about teaching at LBCC, administering your first class, teaching methodology, details about professional development, etc...

Part-Time Faculty Handbook provides you with more details.
ASSH Handbook (Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities Division)
SEM Handbook (Science, Engineering, Mathematics Division)
Credits - Part-time faculty are allowed to teach up to 24 credit hours total in a year excluding summers. In the summer we can teach as many credits as we wish or as many as are available to us.
Finals - The time and date depend on your course schedule, and often does not coincides with your actual teaching hours.
Office hours - The Faculty Handbook recommends 2 hours of office hours per week to serve the students. However it is different for part-time faculty as we are required only one hour per course.
Outcomes - We are required to evaluate outcomes reached by our students at the end of the term. Ask your chair or your peers about the procedure in your department.
Prerequisites - In the first week of the term some students who are hoping to get into your class do not have the required prerequisites. Make sure to ask them for a proof before signing the Add-form.
Safety Training - You will be required to take online safety training by SafetyCollege. You will be compensated for two hours per year to complete the training modules. After you complete the training, you may claim two hours on your timesheet during the first full month of the quarter (October, February, or April). For instructions on how to submit a timesheet, see our timesheet instructions page or ask the administrative assistant in your division for assistance.
