University of Oregon undergraduate students Marly Howell and Gabby Shaffer, as well as UO graduate student Zachary Dierks gave paper presentations on their ongoing research on Baset at the Society for American Archaeology meetings in Denver, CO. UO graduate student Tiyas Bhattacharyya presented on her zooarchaeological work at the site of Angkor Borei, Cambodia. While in Denver, we all also visited the Angkor: Lost Empire of Cambodia exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
In 2024, we returned to Battambang to work on processing our artifacts and recording our extensive ceramics collection. You can read more in our 2024 Field Season page.
After our field season, we were grateful to have ceramics illustrator HONG Ranet illustrate our ceramics rim forms. Her work has greatly aided our ongoing ceramics analysis work!
We were honored that the Pteah Project was the subject of a three-part documentary series by KS Explorations!
Part 1 covers our archaeological work and features many of the Cambodian archaeologists and field crew from Baset village that have made our fieldwork a success.
Part 2 covers a collaborative project with artist, Y Lida, who is working with us to produce a comic book about our excavations for the local community.
Part 3 covers our presentation of excavation research results to the local community at the end of our 2023 field season.
