Parent Coordinator Corner

Our Parent Coordinator is Andrea Kelly, whose office is in room 102.  Mrs. Kelly can be reached via Email at akelly8@schools.nyc.gov or by phone at (718) 850-0738, Ext. 1021.  Her cell phone # is (347) 563-4204.

Our goal is to give you as parents/guardians the information and access you need to become active partners in your child’s education. As partners, parents and educators work together and share responsibility for your child’s learning and development. This is important because we know that when families are informed and involved, children do better in school.  Parent workshops are offered throughout the year.  If you need information about the school, the NYC Department of Education, community services, continuing or adult education, etc., please contact Mrs. Kelly.   You are also invited to participate in Literacy and Math Fridays, Read Me a Story Night and Career Day. Volunteers are also needed by the Parents' Association for fundraisers, Photo Day and other events throughout the year. Please continue to check back for parent/family opportunities below.

For further information contact the Parent Coordinator, whose focus is to make our school a place where families feel welcome, supported, and respected partners in education.

PARENTS' ASSOCIATION

The Parents' Association (PA) of P.S. 51 Q generally meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM.  The Parents' Association plans a number of family activities throughout the year including Meet Santa Night, school photos, Scholastic Book Fairs, theme nights and a fundraiser.   In addition, all Students of the Month are recognized at the monthly PA meetings.  All parents/guardians are automatically members of the PA, and no membership fee is required.  However, the PA accepts donations from all who wish to make a contribution.  You are encouraged to attend the monthly PA meetings, where you can become informed of upcoming events and programs.  The PA also fosters relationships among the families and school administration.  Your input into the organization 's decision making process is important.  Please become and remain active in the Parents' Association!
