In this lesson you will learn how to optimize your model in Maya for exporting into the Unity Editor. Once in Unity we will bring our ships to life in a realistic flight simulator!
In this lesson you will learn how to instantiate a laser cannon prefab that will be able to shoot and destroy targets!
In this lesson we will export our models from Maya and bring them to life in Unity using wheel colliders to control the vehicle.
Mechwarrior 2 was was a very popular game for the PC back in the mid 90's. According to Wikipedia, Sales of MechWarrior 2 surpassed 500,000 copies within three months of release.
This game holds a sentimental value for me as it was the first game I ever played on my very first computer. It was state of the art for the times, and was once considered one of the best simulators.
For this project in Maya, we are going to take a crack at recreating one of the most popular mech's used in the series, the Timber Wolf. Not only will we recreate this legend using Maya, but we will also animate our mech's walking, and bring them into the Unity game engine so they can be controlled and used for game play!
In this video I show you how to set up the mech project in Maya in order to facilitate us exporting our mechs into Unity without issue. This is an extremely important video so please watch carefully.
In this lesson we are going to create an IK Rig for our Mechs that will enable us to easily animate him.
In this lesson we are going to clean up our Mech Geometry and finalize our Mechs to get them ready for rigging.
Remember, all geometry needs to be cleaned up!
All history should be deleted, transforms should be frozen (zero'd out), and all pivots should be centered!
In this lesson we are going to make a simple animation of our mech walking in place
In this lesson we are going to create our Unity Projects, import our Mechs, and begin the process of controlling our Mechs movement in Unity
In this lesson we are going to focus on creating the camera mechanics for viewing our Mechs
In this lesson we are going to add some particle effects to our Mechs to simulate dust getting kicked up when I Mech's take a step on our terrains.
In this lesson we are going to prepare our Mech's missiles for shooting in Unity.

In this lesson we are going to create the menu system for our game that will allow us to begin and reload levels.
In this final lesson we will prepare our games to be exported from unity as standalone editions that can be shared.
In this next unit we are going to take our 3D modeling skills to the next level and recreate one of the greatest tanks ever made!
In this lesson we will finalize our models for texturing, and export them from Maya.
In this lesson we will set up our tank so that it can be controlled by our control script in Unity.
In this video we will create the camera follow script. This is a long video, over 60 minutes, but the information is very important in order for you to begin to understand how we script behaviors in Unity.
In this video we will create the tank movement script.
In this video we will create the tank shooting script.
