Video Game Development
Mr. Provenzo
Mr. Provenzo
My goal within the Game Simulation and Animation Program is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse fields within the game development industry. This will be achieved through practical hands-on experiences utilizing industry-standard tools. These experiences encompass a wide array of subjects, including programming with Microsoft's Visual Studio, 3D Modeling, Character Rigging, Animation using cutting-edge 3D modeling software, and, notably, game design with the Unity 3D game engine.
I have been dedicated to teaching video game development for over fifteen years as a computer science educator. As a lead teacher, I established the first four-year Game Design program within the MDCPS school system. Subsequently, I have had the privilege of contributing as a content developer for Pearson Certiport, where I worked with other educators and industry professionals to create the first industry certification exams for game design using the Unity engine.
As an educator, I take immense pride in the knowledge that over the years, many of my students have achieved numerous accolades and received substantial monetary awards for their exceptional work. It is my sincere aspiration to continue this tradition and bring this enriching experience to my new role at Felix Varela Senior High!
Congratulations to this year's winners of the annual CTE district competitions. This year we swept first and second place in the Virtual Reality categories respectively, solidifying our presence as a leader in game design within the Miami Dade County School System!
Congratulations go out to Senior Game Design student, Eric Breto on winning the 2019 NFTE Emerge competition with his VR App "Ballstars". Eric is a true testament to what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. Having already won the 2019 Scholastic Arts & Writing Silver Key Award for excellence in visual arts, it is great to see all of Eric's hard work finally paying off, literally!
