Founded in the spring of 2022 by 6 American high school students from across the US, Project ZMBY exists to connect Chinese and English-speaking students in the United States and China. We believe that as students, each of us can bring positive change to the world through our actions and understanding of cultures outside our own.
Project ZMBY is short for Project 中美笔友 (zhōng měi bǐ yǒu Chinese American Pen Pals).
Project ZMBY offers American college students the opportunity to volunteer with our College Program. This program allow participants to cultivate leadership skills in collaboration with both the Project ZMBY team and individuals fluent in Chinese. All levels of Chinese are welcome to apply, but volunteers with more experience (intermediate-level Chinese or higher) will have an easier time engaging with their students since the English level for Chinese partners can greatly vary from complete beginner to advanced.
Project ZMBY is a program that connects American and Chinese students of all ages through the cross-cultural exchange of English language learning. American and Chinese students benefit through developing meaningful connections and cross-cultural understanding. English proficiency is becoming more crucial than ever in today's interconnected world. Volunteers often acquire new skills and experiences because of their work with Project ZMBY, which can be applied to personal and professional situations, such as leadership, adaptability, cross-cultural communication, and problem-solving. We invite American volunteers passionate about international relationships and language learning to apply today.
