To connect your students with native English practice through the service of American high school and college age language diplomats. To ensure ease of communication, at least one volunteer has some experience with Mandarin Chinese prior to their volunteer service.
Besides providing your students increased exposure to the English language and American students, as a teacher you also can create international friendships with the American volunteers and learn current English slang!
Project ZMBY offers free online classroom programs with the flexibility to work with students of any size, age, or level. Our experienced volunteer teachers are passionate about sharing American culture/language with students and learning more about Chinese culture and language. Many of our volunteers are already proficient in English and Chinese.

Our volunteer teachers are eager to provide native English instruction in whatever way you think best suits your students. Typically, this has included Chinese students asking questions using their lesson's key vocab, giving presentations on topics related to the lesson, or Chinese students answering questions themselves. We are open to whatever method you think works best!
Our volunteer teachers receive pre-service training to ensure they are prepared to match their vocabulary to the level of your class: be it beginner introductions or advanced topics like climate change.
Language diplomats are available to serve your classroom in whatever way is most convenient for you.
Based on your preferences, language diplomats will use either WeChat or Voov (Tencent) Meeting to talk with you and your students. This can be during your English class time, meeting on the weekends, or whenever you would like. We are available to call as frequently as you would like: for 10 minutes or 1 hour, 1x per month or twice per week!
In order to learn about the diversity of America, we will provide you with two langauge diplomats from different regions of the US. This way, your students can learn about the many interesting differences between language diplomats while also developing friendships as you and your students get to know them better and better!
For one volunteer and English teacher, they call via Wechat during class 2x each month. The English teacher sends the volunteer pictures of the unit textbook to prepare, then they call for 15-30 min!
Students first ask the volunteers questions about their life, then the volunteers ask the students some questions!
For this volunteer and English teacher, they call via Tencent meeting during the weekend 1x per month, for about 1 hour.
Students give presentations which they prepared beforehand using their new vocab, then the volunteers ask them follow-up questions!
Also with one English teacher, the class learns in their weekend call about differences in saying "break" between British English and American English.
Besides students practicing English, teachers can create a larger lesson through each call with their language diplomats: teaching new vocab and grammatical structures.
