Plyometrics, aka jump training, is a type of exercise that focuses on explosive movements to increase muscle strength and improve athletic performance.
It involves rapid muscle stretching and contraction, aiming to increase strength, speed and agility.
The goal of plyometric exercises is to improve muscle contraction to achieve the stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) mechanism.
SSC uses the stretch reflex, which occurs when a muscle rapidly extends and contracts immediately as a response. This reflex action generates great deal of force in short periods allowing for explosive movements.

Plyometrics should be trained before muscle training, and every rep and set should be trained to the highest intensity possible, with 2-3min of rest between sets. We have a plyometric workout routine for you to try. Click here.
