Working with the VRC in Karachi, Pakistan
Fall/ Winter 2024
Fall/ Winter 2024
Recently, we worked to support the VRC (Vocational and Rehabilitation Center) in Karachi, Pakistan, a school dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities.
Through collaborative efforts with the Village Art Club, we made over 100 bookmarks with more than 25 volunteers. Every bookmark was made with care and positivity, and they were sent to the school directly from our club as part of a volunteer trip to Pakistan in Winter 2023.
By donating to this institution, we aimed to better the educational experience and bring smiles to the faces of its students. Our experience with the VRC was nothing short of transformative, and seeing the students with the bookmarks was a heartwarming experience!
As part of the service trip, one of our leadership members, Eshaal, conducted arts and crafts activities with the students, such as making a small mural with the handprints of volunteers and students. Additionally, the group that went to the school held life skill workshops, focusing on sandwich making, dental hygiene, dances, and cognitive games.
This service activity was our first international project, and a very exciting start to the rest of our journey. To learn more about our service project, and continuing work at the VRC, contact eshaal_merchant@s.thevillageschool.com.
