While my initial plan was to use Readymag since I know it is easy to use and can make for a great user experience, after trying it out I decided I really want to keep the page flip aspect, so the reader can be reading the cookbook online and flipping through the pages while also having extra interactions like buttons. Adobe publish online would have been a good option in that case, but it would not be sustainable, since Adobe is subscription based.
Since I already have a domain with my name, I decided to create one for the Totti cookbook under it. And while I am proficient in coding websites, mainly html and CSS, I outsourced the page flipping code from fchavonet on GitHub. I used my knowledge of coding as well as online resources and AI to add my cookbook pages, as well as code buttons into the book. Custom coded website allowed me so much freedom to update and play around with the code, it also answered the question of longevity and sustainability for me, as the website is not under a third party platform, but under my control instead, so I can maintain it and develop it in the future.
The biggest challenge in coding this website was keeping the flipping animation while also editing major pop-ups in the page like buttons and any form of interaction. When publishing I even noticed some buttons would bleed through to the page behind it, but only on certain browser, which I had to trouble shoot every time I fixed the code and clicked publish.
Since I created a website for the digital cookbook, I wanted a website that can guide the users to

and I wanted it to be linked in the physical book. So, I quickly designed this directory website as I call it, or landing page, that leads the user to the different parts of the Totti project. Since I did not have the time to code it, I exported the design as an svg/image and simply added the redirection links to the intended parts of the page. Perhaps in the future I can polish and code it for am even better experience, but this did the job I wanted it to!
