Climate change is everywhere and every day, people suffer from climate-related causes. It could be something as little as a flood to a wildfire wiping out half a city. We need to do something to help those out. Whether or not you are open to the idea of letting people come to your city because of what happened to their home, you are going to have to get used to it. With how much climate change is getting worse instead of better cities are going to have millions of people moving there.
How can they help benefit our community?
It is shown that migrants will work the jobs that other people would most likely not like to work. For example, a lot of roofers, painters, and other hard labor jobs, are mainly worked by migrants because the majority of people are afraid to get their hands dirty. Another plus is building the community. Bringing migrants into your communities can introduce new traditions and new foods. Allowing yourself to open up to new ideas can help grow you as a person and make you see things from a different perspective.
How many people are affected by climate change and are forced to leave their homes?
"... 21.5 million people per year have been forced to move because of extreme weather, which is three times as many as were affected by conflict and nine times as many as were forced to flee persecution - and this is expected to triple in the coming decades." (Vince, Nomad Century, 198)
