What can you do to help?
You can offer up a part of your house to them until they get back onto their feet. Once they are back on their feet you could ask them to help with payments or help them find a new place to live. You could help build houses for them and donate money to foundations whose main goal is to help those who have lost so much. One example would be Environmental Justice Foundation. Although this is just one example many other organizations are willing to accept donations to help those in need.
Universities could offer housing to some refugees and allow them to work at the university in exchange for labor. This is just an idea but after a while, they could find a better-fitting job for them and move on with their lives.
Everywhere around the world and even in the US people are having to move because of climate-related events. Some people moved from Louisiana to Michigan after the catastrophic Hurrican Ida. You would not be able to spot these people because they look just like everybody else but they had to restart their lives and move because they lost their homes to such a horrific event.
